RANDY NAYLOR WOODEN BAT TOURNAMENT

Randy Joe Naylor

August 12, 1977 - August 24, 1997

Our son played three years for the Corning American LegionBaseball Program.

These years will always be treasured in our hearts.  It was not only a positive

and uplifting time in Randy's life, but in our lives as well.  We would appreciate

any support that you might be able to give to ensure the continuation of this

baseball program, so that other boys and their families might enjoy and benefit

from the opportunities this baseball program has to offer.

Who was Randy Naylor?  A friend to many, a leaderamongst his peers; a gifted athlete at whatever sport he tried.  To us (his family) and closet friends, he was a very caring young man.  Randy would help the young and old alike, whether it be some advice for the young or giving comfort to the elderly.

A few of Randy's accomplishments were: Captin of the Corning-Painted Post West High Viking football and baseball teams; male athlete of the year at West High School; winner of the George E. Bacalles Award; 1st Team All S.T.C. (both football and baseball), and Lion's Club Devensive PLayer Award his junior and senior years.  We have many memories of Randy, but playing his junior and senior years in football and baseball with a separated growth plate in his elbow, showed his heart and courage for the sports he loved.

Randy and Joel Stephens became friends while playing on the same small fry football team.  In high school, they played against each other in baseball and football--Randy at Corning-Painted Post West High and Joel at Elmira Notre Dame.  Randy and Joel were teammates again on the 1994 District 7 Champion Corning Legion Baseball Team.  We have many happy memories of both young men, on and off the playing field.

With all the awards and honors Randy had been given, the honor that you have given him of being a part of the Joel Stephens American Legion Baseball Invitational is beyond all words.  Randy, would again, be proud of being on the same team with Joel.

Thank you,

Andrea (mother), Raymond (father), and Ryan (brother)
